Scrimshaw & Engraving Seiko SKX007/9 Dial Bulino Engraved by Ron Jr. I'm a full time (and would like to think a fairly well known ;) scrimshaw and engraving artist. UP FOR SALE I bought a stock Seiko SKX dial new, then 2 ton epoxied a 1 pure argentium silver disk to the dial, then painted the still visible outer edge of the stock dial with Black 2.0 (considered the blackest black paint available to the public) and then finally hand engraved a Greater Hammerhead shark onto it. The silver disk "rides" on top of the original dial and fits inside the inner edge of the chapter ring so there are no case/movement fit issues. The only difference is the reduced clearance of the hands to the dial. In the close up picture with the green background look at the center and you can see the gap between the dial face and the hands.

I'm new to altering these dials so to make sure everything would function ok this dial has been in my personal SKX007 for the last month or so. No problems encountered at all. This dial should fit in almost any Seiko Automatic with a 7S26 movement, the crown at 4 o'clock and a 1 1/16 or greater inner diameter from the case edge, chapter ring etc. About argentium silver; It is.

935 pure silver and is considered the shiniest silver of them all. It has a 1% higher silver content than sterling silver and is the most tarnish resistant of all the silvers. Bulino Engraving Bulino engraving is a very exacting and time consuming process that consists of looking through a stereo microscope or similar magnifying device and making thousands of tiny cuts in metal with a very precisely sharpened graver.

The shadows created by each tiny cut in the metal are what makes the work visible. If the artist is patient and is good enough photo like quality on an incredibly small scale can be achieved using this method.
